When it comes to protecting vital electrical components in harsh environments, off-the-shelf solutions often fall short. That’s why we specialize in custom enclosures tailored to your exact needs. We recently completed a project for a customer in Florida that perfectly illustrates our commitment to durable, precise, and user-focused design.

Our client needed a robust solution to cover large electrical panels located on docks. The unique challenges of a marine environment – relentless sun, salt spray, and heavy rain – demanded a material and design that could stand up to the elements.

The Perfect Material: White HDPE

For this critical application, we opted for White High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This wasn’t a random choice; HDPE is an exceptional material for outdoor use, especially in sun-drenched Florida. Here’s why it was the ideal fit:

  • Superior UV Stabilization: The primary concern for any outdoor enclosure in Florida is UV degradation. Our chosen HDPE is specifically UV stabilized, meaning it can withstand prolonged exposure to intense sunlight without becoming brittle, cracking, or discoloring. This ensures the enclosure maintains its integrity and appearance for years to come.
  • Excellent Durability: HDPE is incredibly tough and resistant to impacts, chemicals, and moisture, making it perfect for the demanding dockside environment.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Unlike metal, HDPE won’t rust or corrode from exposure to saltwater or high humidity, ensuring long-term protection for the electrical panels.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: The clean white finish of the HDPE provides a professional and unobtrusive look that blends well with marine surroundings.

Thoughtful Design for Maximum Protection

Beyond the material, the design of this custom enclosure incorporates features specifically requested by the customer to maximize protection and functionality:

  • Integrated Rain Shroud: Florida’s afternoon downpours are legendary. To combat this, we designed the enclosure with an integrated rain shroud. This crucial feature diverts water away from the panel seams and access points, ensuring that sensitive electrical components remain dry, even during the heaviest storms.
  • Secure Key Lock: Security is paramount, especially for critical infrastructure. A robust key lock was integrated into the design, providing restricted access to the electrical panels and preventing unauthorized tampering.

This project is a prime example of how a custom-designed enclosure can provide superior protection and peace of mind where standard solutions simply wouldn’t suffice. We’re proud to deliver solutions that not only meet but exceed our customers’ expectations for durability, functionality, and longevity.
