The Challenge: A Non-Standard Cabinet with Big Requirements

The customer needed a custom-sized, large-format cabinet — one that went well beyond the dimensions of a standard enclosure. But size wasn’t the only hurdle. They also required:

  • Clear doors for easy visual access to their equipment without opening the cabinet
  • A full-size back panel to mount all of their components
  • Unobstructed interior access when the doors were open

Here’s the problem: in a double-door cabinet of this size, a center support post is typically required for structural integrity. But a fixed center post would block the full-width back panel and make equipment installation a nightmare.

The Solution: An Engineered Removable Center Support

Qube’s team designed the cabinet with a removable center support post — giving the customer the best of both worlds. The post provides the structural support needed during normal operation, but can be taken out entirely when the customer needs unobstructed access to mount or service equipment on the back panel.

The customer loved the design. And it turned out the removable center post wasn’t just a workaround — it became a genuinely useful feature they appreciated in day-to-day use.
