When a customer approached Qube Inc. with a tall order — a single, self-contained enclosure that could house a complete computer workstation and a laser printer, survive dusty industrial environments, and even operate inside a walk-in cooler — our engineering team got to work. The result is one of our most feature-rich custom builds to date: a fully integrated all-in-one workstation enclosure.

This custom plastic enclosure is a prime example of why businesses across manufacturing, food service, warehousing, and cold-chain logistics choose Qube: because off-the-shelf simply doesn’t cut it when your environment is anything but standard.

What’s Inside This Custom Workstation Enclosure?

The enclosure was designed to consolidate an entire computer workstation into one protected, lockable unit. Instead of scattered, exposed equipment vulnerable to dust, debris, moisture, and temperature extremes, every component lives inside a single purpose-built cabinet.

  • CPU Cabinet — Dedicated, ventilated compartment to house the tower or mini PC securely.
  • Monitor Bay — Integrated monitor mount or shelf designed to your display’s exact dimensions.
  • Keyboard & Mouse — Pull-out keyboard tray with mouse support, tucked away when not in use.
  • Printer Enclosure — Custom-built printer compartment mounted on top of the main cabinet.
  • Locking Doors — All access points feature locking doors for security and tamper prevention.
  • Heating Option — Built-in heating for cold storage environments such as walk-in coolers.

A Printer Enclosure on Top — Engineered as One Unit

One of the standout design decisions on this build is the printer enclosure integrated directly onto the top of the cabinet. Rather than placing the laser printer on a nearby shelf or cart where it’s exposed to the environment, the printer lives in its own enclosed, locking compartment — seamlessly stacked above the workstation. This means paper stays clean, the printer is protected from airborne particulates, and the entire footprint of the workstation remains compact and organized.

The printer compartment was custom-fabricated to match the exact dimensions of the customer’s printer model, with appropriate clearance for paper loading, ventilation, and cable management — all routed neatly through the cabinet body.

Dust-Free Design for Demanding Environments

Dust is one of the leading causes of premature equipment failure in industrial and food-production facilities. This custom enclosure is built to be dust-free, with sealed seams, gasketed doors, and strategic ventilation that filters incoming air. Your CPU, monitor, and peripheral electronics stay clean — reducing maintenance intervals and dramatically extending equipment lifespan.

Qube fabricates these enclosures in both high-performance PVC plastic and black ABS — and most customers opt for the black ABS for its sharp, professional appearance, as seen in the photo above. Both materials are well-suited for demanding industrial environments, and Qube can help you choose the right option for your specific application.

Built for Cold Storage: Heating Options Included

This particular customer needed the workstation to function reliably inside a walk-in cooler — a challenge that rules out most standard computer enclosures entirely. Qube addressed this with an integrated heating option, maintaining safe operating temperatures for all enclosed electronics even when ambient temperatures drop well below freezing.

Whether your application is a refrigerated warehouse, a cold-chain distribution center, or a meat processing facility, Qube’s cold-storage-ready enclosures keep your technology operational where it would otherwise fail.

All Doors Lock. All Access Is Controlled.

Security matters on the production floor. Every door on this custom enclosure is equipped with a lock, ensuring that only authorized personnel can access the computer, printer, or internal components. This protects against accidental interference, unauthorized configuration changes, and equipment theft — all common concerns in shared or high-traffic work environments.

Why Qube for Custom Computer Enclosures?

Since 1993, Qube has built a reputation for producing plastic enclosures that perform where others fall short. Every unit is made to order, typically ships in fewer than ten business days, and is manufactured using CAD-CAM technology that delivers product integrity and appearance comparable to injection-molded parts — without the costly dies or long production runs.

Our enclosures are fully customizable to fit any equipment, any size, and any environment. Whether you need a standard CPU cabinet, a WiFi router enclosure, a laser printer housing, or a complex multi-component custom workstation enclosure, Qube delivers a solution built precisely to your specifications.
